Our Review
A beautiful last-minute addition to this year's overwhelming avalanche of great new music, Beth Pederson's Christmas in Their Eyes brings rich warmth for a cool season. Pederson is a folk vocalist from Idaho. I hadn't heard of her work, and she barely got music into my hands in time to post these brief remarks. Her set, consisting almost entirely of contemporary tunes (including two by Ms. Pederson) has a contemporary acoustic sensibility with a bit of Native American mysticism thrown in (especially Ms. Pederson's own composition Winter, an instrumental track played on solo flute). I am a fan of contemporary acoustic folk music, and Pederson is a master of the form. This CD became available just in time for Christmas, and is available only on the artist's Web site. I quickly fell in love with Beth Pederson's Christmas in Their Eyes and so will you.
