Our Review
Something of a new age stylist, Brad Dase isn't afraid to plug in a few folk riffs where he feels they're warranted. The dramatic faux spanish imbellishments on We Three Kings reminded me of something I might hear on a Joe Ely record. Elsewhere, such in the galloping groove on Chester Township, one of Dase's own contemporary anthems, I briefly felt a sense of the incredible lightness of being. Road music. I also liked his touch on What Child Is This.
A gifted player, his compositions, though not overly challenging, weren't so bad, either. Chester Township was probably the best, but Pine Cathedral was interesting, too. But his virtuosity on the classic carols are what recommend this CD to serious holiday and new age listeners.
