Caribbean R&B music? How cool is that? Hemisphere Music has constructed a nifty little (just 31 minutes) compilation of Caribbean-flavored seasonal songs delivered with R&B flair. Smooth!
Singer Alain Bossous owns three of the nine tracks; the opening title track is particularly memorable, exuding a lazy, smoky vibe--complete with harmonica. Divin Enfant, not surprisingly, is sung in French, and the seductive R&B treatment had me swinging in my seat. Bossous also shines in his French-accented Drummer Boy, accompanied by a kicky electronic backdrop.
Divin Enfant is a slick, rhythmic package of holiday surprises. Very interesting--and worth a look.
