Our Review

Dr. Zoot is a jazz band. Wait, no, it's an easy listening band. Nope, it's an R&B band. (Note: I'm only 3 songs into the thing at this point.) What I'm talking about is an eclectic Jazz recording here, and a fun one to boot! Dr. Zoot's toe-tapping renditions run the gamut, from Motown to New Orleans. Sometimes, it swings. At others, it rocks. There seems to be no end to the 50s-era retro styles Dr. Zoot cannot perform to pleasant effect.

I like their cool, rolicking Jingle Bells, a jazzified, almost Sinatraesque take on the old holiday nut. Their musicianship is inspired. How the Groove Stole Christmas will remain in the line-up after the reviewin' is done. 'Nuff said.
