Our Review

I like the straight ahead way John David plays the Christmas Classics. Due to a shipping mixup, I didn't get a chance to hear this music last year, but it was worth the wait. David plays both guitar and mandolin on this recording. By skillfully arranging and mixing these instruments, he maintains a beautifully rich sound throughout. His style of picking the guitar reflects the seasonal sentimentality of Christmas, conveying warmth and harmony.

I enjoyed his rendition of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. It was lively and full of little surprises. Also pleasing my ear was O Come All Ye Faithful, particularly the way he chose to feature the bass notes. This is a very nice instrumental record: elegant, understated, and warm.
