Our Review
An Irish Piano Christmas is a most lovely instrumental bouquet for the holidays. J.J. Sheridan warmly executes each beautiful note with the gentlest touch; he manages to communicate a great deal of emotion in the most delicate phrasing. His new release presents one dozen easy-listening seasonal tracks, including old Irish carols, two beautiful Sheridan originals ("A Christmas Prayer," "The Laois Christmas Waltz"), and some traditional favorites. All are well executed; the performance and production values here are top notch.
Although each cut is its own treasure, the album ends much too soon. Under 30 minutes? Why, I had barely relaxed in my chair when the dulcet sounds of Sheridan's piano slid to a stop. Still, the CD presents many gorgeous moments of reflection; I probably loved the timeless embrace of Bach's "Arioso" and the exquisite "Wexford Carol" the best. Everything falls into place perfectly here.
So sink into an overstuffed chair and let your troubles fade. J.J. Sheridan wants to celebrate an outstanding Irish Piano Christmas just with you!
