Our Review
Keith Andrew Grim is a religious man who plays the guitar and often uses his music as a means of worship and praise. On Christmas Celebration!, Grim puts his considerable talents to good use, playing striking acoustic guitar instrumentals mixed with synthesizer magic on 15 holiday favorites. On one track, (The First Noel), his young niece Abigail supplies gentle accompaniment on the piano.
The album's name is most appropriate; this offering is all about the celebration of Christmas. The tone is jubilant, yet respectful, and the overall feeling is upbeat and intensely celebratory. Some tracks, like Good Christian Men, Rejoice and Jingle Bells (Reprise), are downright funky!
My favorite tracks feature Grim's fine finger-picking on the acoustic guitar; although his synthesizer work is impressive, the acoustic guitar projects more warmth and intimacy. His opening Joy to the World bursts with delight, and his Angel Medley combo exudes the same folksy satisfaction. On O Holy Night, Grim works overtime, providing waves of guitar notes that sweetly push the song forward to its conclusion. Best of all is We Three Kings, a bluesy rock anthem that works on every level.
Keith Andrew Grim's Christmas Celebration! is a nicely-crafted homage to the holidays. Join the celebration!
