Our Review

Kenny Cook cooks up some easy-listening, smooooth jazz moments on Seasonal. The mood is low-key and charming.

Presenting eight holiday standards over 38 minutes, Cook stirs a synth stew of well-coordinated instrumentals (including Silent Night, the funkier Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and the smokin' We Three Kings) and mellow vocals. Cook's voice is fluid and warm, somewhat reminiscent of Michael Frank's playful intonations; he's a crooner with a light jazz edge. Cook's vocals work best for me on his sincere rendition of I'll Be Home for Christmas.

Seasonal is a pleasant, easy-going offering for the holiday season. Enjoy!
