Our Review
Lazaros Christmas was a mysterious gift. The child sitting on Santa's knee (Costa Lazaros) promised what? As I knew nothing about Costa and Tom Lazaros, that was the mystery to unwrap. Lazaros Christmas turns out to be a country songwriter bonanza, as this brand new offering contains ten new Christmas songs, songs mainly geared for children, from Tom Lazaros.
I would have a hard time picking a favorite among these nine worthy compositions, though Who Would Want To Miss Christmas was cute enough and To You A King was nice, too. Okay, I liked all nine about equally. There is a sweet, child-attractive preciousness to everything about this music, from the photos on the album jacket of both Lazaros posing with Santa to the simple song structure and lyrics and the straightforward country arrangements.
In fact, the wonderfully accessible country treatments delivered by this fine ensemble of country-style instrumentalists was the true highlight for me. It is always a pleasure to find this many new Christmas songs. But when these are put forth in such wonderful Americana arrangements the entire effort becomes a sweet treat, indeed.
Wake the kids! Lazaros Christmas is the finest new Christmas music for children I've heard all season long.
