Say, do you happen to have 9 minutes to get acquainted with a fabulous country-folk singer-songwriter? You do? Then let me introduce you to Mikki Brisk, a Georgia peach with vocals that ooze honey and spice. Her Cowgirl Christmas/Joey release features just two original numbers with distinctively different flavors, but both are absolutely delicious.
Cowgirl Christmas is a lanquid country ballad with harmonica fluorishes and percussion that paint the image of a long night on the road, heading home for Christmas. This is classic country through and through, and Brisk's half-lidded voice could not be better.
The second tune is brilliant in its own way, but takes an entirely separate approach. Joey presents Joseph's perspective, the father who plays second (or third) fiddle in the Christmas Story. This is great folk music, and Joey's tale is all about fatherhood, patience, and the importance of quiet supporting roles in our lives.
Spend nine delightful minutes with the amazing Mikki Brisk this holiday season, and you'll be looking to see what else this fine artist has produced. Ride 'em, Cowgirl!
