Our Review
Christmas at Mountain Stage puts together a number of holiday performances from among the wide variety of guests featured on the show. I really enjoyed Larry Groce and the Mountain Stage Band's Christmas Angel, a tune composed by Groce. Also very inspiring was Bob Thompson's interpretation of I wonder as I Wander, a piano instrumental number.
But the highlight for me was, of course, the Roches: the sister act composed of Maggie, Terre and Suzzy Roche. I have commented elsewhere that their We Three Kings is the greatest Christmas record of our time. Here they perform two of the finest arrangements from that CD: Star of Wonder (the most inspiring song I know of, when they perform it) and Winter Wonderland, (directions for reaching Wonderland: 1. cross the Brooklyn Bridge; 2. Find Terre Roche).
I can recommend this record simply on the strength of the Roches, but it features Michael Martin Murphey and Kathy Mattea as well.
