Our Review
If you are in the mood for that moist, pungent breeze off the islands, then give a listen to One World's Island Christmas, a jollly Calypso holiday recording, with some Reggae beats thrown in for good measure.
One World is Keith Ricks, who conveys the instrumental magic, and Bob Boyd, whose voice instantly transports the listener from Key West, Florida, to the Caribbean.
The zany synth arrangement of Frosty the Snowman quickly won my heart. In fact, Ricks and Boyd were at their best when weaving their island gumbo together with contemporary hip hop beats. These interludes contrasted nicely with some of the duo's more traditional calypso and pan numbers. I especially liked the "last call" feel of Auld Lang Syne, as a warm "good night" from the Pier House Resort, or wherever else holiday revelers gather.
