Our Review

Brad Parker's Christmas Card paints a wistful picture of Christmases past, capturing the melancholy element of the winter season that comes with memories of times past and people long gone. The B side of the EP, Nothing Lasts Forever, features Parker, accompanied by Eleanor McEvoy's violins and backup vocals, pleading more of a romantic than a seasonal case.

Both cuts showcase Parker's singular vocal style and easygoing acoustic guitar. Singing in a register slightly above Leo Kottke and playing in an acoustic style informed by Jim Croce, his songs convey an earnest nostalgia that can really hit home in late autumn, during the time when many of us do tend to reminisce and re-experience the lost loves of our youth.
