This must have been a fun exercise: you have heard all of these songs before, but you've never heard them done this way. Jeff Daniel, Billy Strauss, and Doug Bernheim have sampled and synthesized, remixed and reinvigorated everything from Andy Williams' It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (A Shrift Remix) to Charles Brown's Merry Christmas Baby (MNO Remix). The result blends old and new with a hipness factor almost off the charts.
Daniel, Straus, and Bernheim have incorporated several cute loops. One of the most interesting is a sample of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean in Duke Ellington's Jingle Bells (Mulato Beat Remix). Bing Crosby's rendition of The First Noel (Attaboy House Party Mix) is the most powerful of these remixes. Mel Tormé's The Christmas Song is the most compellingly original. This is one time when a clever vision comes together in a worthy and worthwhile product. Never disrespectful in any way to the original works, these remixes are just a refreshing way to hear familiar music. These work together or separately. Every hipster and every easy listening fan should hear Christmas Remixed.
