Our Review
Oh Christmas Tree appears to be the fully-formed rendition of last season's Sampler EP. Although barely exceeding EP length itself, Oh Christmas Tree is a beautifully realized set of new age rock anthems, along with a couple of Christmas classics thrown in just to spice things up.
Rock guitar virtuoso Alec Fuhrman is perfectly leavened by Charles Tapp's enigmatic vocal style. Together they create a sound that should please rock aficionados as well as soothing the delicate ears of spiritual new age mavens.
I particularly enjoyed the drama of Lo How A Rose E'er Blooming a song that is usually difficult to adapt to any sort of contemporary arrangement. Here, listening to Tapp's haunting vocals, along with a mysterious and chilly arrangement, I can almost feel "the cold of winter, when half spent was the night."
Brief though it may be, this strange and heartfelt set is worth having.
