Our Review

This record has already garnered acclaim across the Internet, making this review into just so much me-too-ism, I suppose. But I cannot help but heap more praise on this record. Performed in a style of music called techno, this CD puts me more in mind of Mannheim Steamroller, except that Envox is not yet taking itself quite as seriously as the Mann.

Actually, to be such a fun Christmas record, quite a large percentage of the numbers on Snow are performed in minor keys, an effect that works particularly well on Wonderland. Clearly, Envox did not simply spend 40 minutes in the studio to make their bid for 15 minutes of fame. All of the selections are engaging and well-arranged, and most of them should become perennials around my house.

An elegant little record, though not little at all, Snow features the technical presentation of Nick Robertson as Envox, with additional guitar work by Mario Hidalgo. It is quite deserving of all the recognition it is receiving.
