Our Review

In the interest of disclosure I'll mention that I am no longer as susceptible to the frantic evangelicism of Savior as I once was. But I must say that the "product" of salvation has come a long way since I sang in a Christian rock band (Psalms 151) back in the '70s. Savior's beautifully lush instrumentals and edgy alternative arrangements will have twentysomething crowds on their feet--and dancing if they aren't Southern Baptists.

And even I am susceptible to such hook-laden pop, no matter my own state of belief. My favorite song in this beautiful 12-song set was Wonderful Counselor, but I found something to like about every song.

I'm not sure this qualifies as "seasonal" Christmas music. It plays more like Christian pop. But no matter. It was a lot of fun to listen to, and I'm sure there will be many Christmas listeners, even strict secularists, who will enjoy Savior, based solely on its production values and infectious, perky lyricism.
