Our Review
I love Andean pan flute beyond most other instruments, and I would love to spend a Christmas in the Andes. Especially if I were serenaded of a cool mountain morning by Tairona! Actually, from the liner notes it appears Tairona may be a North American band. But they can play those South American instruments in an Andean style! Although their selections stuck pretty closely to a basic Christmas set, their arrangements were full of pleasant little surprises. I enjoyed listening to every song on the CD, from Away in a Manger to their medley--one of the best integrated medleys I have ever heard--featuring Deck the Halls, Coventry Carol, Jingle Bells, and Glad Christmas Bells. I don't know if any medley qualifies as a tour de force, but this one comes close. They threw in everything but the kitchen sink on this one.
Several songs on this offering will make the annual highlight reel.
