Our Review

There was a time during the '80s when I fed myself on a steady diet of the Celtic folk sound of artists such as Michael Lewis and Denise Wilson, the duo also known as Traveler's Dream. So, it is with a personal sense of nostalgia that I listened to their beautifully textured Cold Blows the Day.

The arrangements themselve are rich in an Irish flavor of nostalgia, especially the wistful title track, filled with tin whistles and mournful crooning. Along with Lewis's Cold Blows The Day, the evocative The Holly and The Ivy Revisited comprise the only contemporary originals in what is otherwise an extensive set of traditional carols. But all are rendered with such tender vocals and charming instrumentals that I couldn't help falling in love with the thing.
