Our Review
When singer-songwriter Treva Blomquist recorded O Holy Night is 2001, she was a college student (Middle Tennessee State University) studying music. This amazing young woman has a fresh pop/folk/rock voice and a bright future, and I would love to hear her in concert today!
Treva's voice is fragile crystal, sweet and clear. The delicacy is not weakness, although she is a tad tentative on some numbers. In others, like on the title number, Treva pulls out all the stops with a stunning display of vocal power. WOW--she hits some high notes that require a telescope for viewing! And on the wonderful "White Christmas/Winter Wonderland" medley, Treva shows true verve and confident flexibility; her voice has a delicate freshness and power that is reminiscent of Jewel.
O Holy Night contains thirteen tracks, and over half are well-loved favorites. I did not recognize the other tracks, and neither the liner notes nor the artist's Website fill in the blanks. Did Treva pen these other numbers? I'm not certain, but I do know that those cuts include some superb new holiday numbers, full of passion and polish. Treva's dynamic vocals also benefit from uncredited accompaniment on her album. Oh, I hate being kept in the dark!
Treva Blomquist has tremendous promise, and O Holy Night is an impressive effort. Very nice!

From the Web site:
Seattle meets Nashville will get you Treva Blomquist. Treva's music is a nice blend of Americana/Contemporary Folk-Rock with a little 'soul-ternative' flavoring in the likes of Patty Griffin and Shawn Colvin. Her smooth, pure voice will draw you right in, no matter what style of music is your favorite. Other artists that Treva is often compared to include Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Norah Jones.
Treva's voice is incredibly heartfelt. She has an amazing comfort and presence on stage. Treva is able to hush a noisy room, and brighten a dim stage. Treva has donned several stages in Nashville including the Bluebird, the Commodore, the Sutler, Douglas Corner and the French Quarter.
Treva moved to Nashville from a small town located south of Seattle to pursue a career as an Artist/Singer-Songwriter. She has been turning heads and perking ears in Nashville with her beautiful melodies and unique sound. When asked about songwriting, Treva says "I just write what I know, what I live, what I feel, and what I see those I love going through.. sometimes it's not a nice happy thing that makes you smile and bob your head! But--that's the way life works.. you gotta take the hand your dealt and play it the best you can."
Treva performs at local songwriter venues around Nashville 3-4 nights a week. Her songs come from the deepest part of the heart and mostly reflect struggles and triumphs of a strong young woman. She has self-released a Christmas CD of classic favorites and a 7-song Demo EP. Treva is in the process of recording an album due out for independent self-release Summer, 2005. Her performances vary from an intimate solo acoustic set to a rockin' full band.
