Our Review
Synthesizers are cool instruments. They give the listener to see directly into a composer/arranger's head. Sometimes, what comes out is worth hearing; sometimes, not. Clearly, what's in this guy Vortangle's head is worth hearing. I was blown away by these electronic arrangements of six well-known Christmas carols. The melodies were hidden beneath layers and layers of instrumental themes, recognizable but almost imperceptible. I had a lot of fun, obviously, because I've listened to these themes until my head hurts. But nothing about Crank It Up Christmas hurt my head. I loved all 25 minutes and could have easily loved 25 more. Nice!

From the liner notes:
OK. So, this is NOT the Christmas album that the world has been clamouring to hear. But, it's the one we've dreamed of making. And, for that small minority of people that aren't satisfied with the boring and mundane, it's the one they've been missing.
Take one extremely talented artist/arranger with a mind bursting with complex harmonies. Add a synth with as yet unexplored musical possibilities. And combine them with a hint of the familiar melodies of Christmas. What you get is a unique explosion of music with the vibes of Christmas traditions packaged a whole new way. CRANK IT UP!
