Our Review
When the Arrogant Worms tour Texas, I may schedule them for a visit with the Therapy Sisters, because their lyrical madness may be a symptom of deeper wackiness. Surely, Christmas Turkey signals some sort of holiday affliction. In this dark holiday romp, the Worms skewer and roast Santa instead of the Turkey. This transference makes for hilarious farce.
From the Canadian band who brought you C'est Cheese comes a serial satire where various aspects of the Christmas season are tried, convicted, and summarily executed. From the cautionary Christmas Hangover to the in-your-face Christmas Sucks, the band pokes fun at the modern celebration of the season. In the Worms' universe, Santa's Gonna Kick Your Ass if you haven't been a good little girl or boy.
It may be a hopeful sign that all songs on this record were written by the Worms. Their prolific production may mean they can find steady employment as musicians once they are cured. Their comical faculties are in good working order, and their musicianship is captivating.
But for now, the Worms offer a mighty scary vision of Santa. This is one of those records that every DJ on the north american continent should be playing in December.
Ho ho ho? I don't think so!
