Christmas in the Northwest 8 is a delightful CD. Unfortunately, I have an advance copy and I'm having some trouble matching artists and titles with the track list I was supplied. But be that as it may, there are several wonderful tracks. There are, in fact, 18 wonderful tracks. These range from easy listening and cabaret tunes to acoustic Americana.

One of the best tracks is a beautiful California folk rock rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful done by a group listed as "Acoustic Christmas". They're great, whoever they are. This is followed by a sweet arrangement of Angels We Have Heard On High by Tingstad & Rumbel. And I'm declaring LeRoy Bell's Dream of Peace the darkhorse hit of the season.

Christmas in the Northwest 8 is obviously the 8th in a series, a series of fundraising CDs for the Northwest Children's Hospitals, as it turns out. Somehow, this series had completely slipped our notice here at Christmasreviews.com, but suffice to say this 8th in a series contains a large set of new and nearly new tracks by well-known and ought-to-be-well-known west coast artists, including Dave Matthews (Christmas Song), Heart (Christmas Waits), and Pete Droge (On Christmas Day). Imagine what treasures the first seven volumes must be guarding?

Christmas in the Northwest 8 rocks light and easy, but it truly rocks.
